Our school recently took the Stanford Achievement Test, 10th Edition (SAT10). This test is one measure of our student achievement. The following charts show the performance of the average student in MonticelloAcademy compared to students in the same grade across the nation, from both public and private schools. The Battery scores provide an overall indication of our school's performance. The national average is at 50th percentile. Many people overemphasize test scores as a rating of how a school is doing. The danger is that schools may focus so much on them that students do very well on the standardized tests, but fail to experience deeper levels of learning and understanding. Because of this danger, we limit standardized testing and the emphasis placed on it. Besides core academic skills, which are being tested on the SAT10, we strongly believe in a well rounded curriculum, including foreign language, art, drama, music, physical education, and computer. With that being said, our students score well above national average on all core subjects tested. Based on the SAT results, 98% of all MonticelloAcademy students score above the national average, and our students are in the top 12% in the nation for academic performance.
