Description

Using the Engineering Design Process, students will learn about and design a Modern City. This class will be participating in and using the guidelines set by the Future City Competition. Throughout the class, students will be researching the many different technologies, agencies, and people which are required for a functioning city. They will also be testing city designs and challenges using Sim City Software. As part of the competition, there will be a research paper describing a city existing in the future while solving a problem fundamental to the city’s survival like Earthquake preparation, power restrictions, and water. Finally, students will build a physical model for their city, including all the necessary buildings and terrain which makes it unique. Students will contribute 2 hours each week after school on building their model.
